Summary Plot Production Marketing Distribution Reception Credits Gallery Further notes RESIDENT EVIL Infinite Darkness, known as BIOHAZARD：Infinite Darkness バイオハザード：インフィニット ダークネス Baiohazādo infinitto dākunesu? in Japan, is an animated series that is part of the series' 25th Anniversary and created by TMS Entertainment and Quebico under supervision of Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi. The series premiered on the Netflix streaming service on July 8, 2021.[1] The series was released on DVD and Blu-ray with bonus features and other packed in merchandise on December 22 in Japan. It consists of four roughly 24-28 minute episodes and features the return of Resident Evil 2 protagonists, Leon Scott Kennedy and Claire Redfield, voiced by the returning Nick Apostolides and Stephanie Panisello. The events of the series take place in 2006, 2 years after Resident Evil 4, roughly one year after Revelations and Leon/Claire's previous reunion in Resident Evil Degeneration, and just shortly before the Raid on the Spencer Estate in the Lost in Nightmares campaign of Resident Evil 5. As is typical with Capcom's licensing since Resident Evil 4, producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi has creative oversight of the project to maintain Capcom's vision and the flow of canon with the games. What is known so far is that Quebico and TMS chose to focus on ultra-realism with the animations, from character expressions to environmental effects like dust. On April 15, 2021, during the Resident Evil [Biohazard] Showcase April 2021, it was revealed that Eiichirō Hasumi will serve as the series' director and Yugo Kanno as composer.[2] On September 27, 2020, Infinite Darkness was officially announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2020 as a CGI series by the show's executive producer, Hiroyuki Kobayashi.[3] On September 26, 2020, Netflix Portugal leaked out a teaser trailer on Twitter claiming that it would be a "CGI movie", but deleted the tweet shortly thereafter.[4] Writing[] Dai Satou of Storyriders and Seiken Takeda of Creek & River were brought on as script advisors for the miniseries.[5] Satou had previously advised the writing of Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2.
